Use existing PitStop Preflight Profiles and Action Lists

Action Lists are collections of automated tasks executed in a specific sequence. They are particularly useful for repetitive operations on multiple PDF files. With Action Lists, users can streamline processes such as correcting errors, modifying layouts, or standardizing document properties. Once created, these lists can be reused to save time and maintain consistent results across projects.

Preflight Profiles serve as quality assurance templates for PDFs. They consist of customizable criteria that determine whether a document is output-ready. Each profile includes a set of rules that determine:

• Whether a particular criterion should be checked
• How issues should be classified in the Preflight Report (e.g., as "Warning" or "Error")
• How problems should be resolved automatically

Automated PDF preflight & correction

PitStop Server automates the entire preflighting process. The typical stages in a preflight check are the following:

1. Set up a Hot Folder and select the desired Preflight Profile.
2. Note that you can create, edit or import other Preflight Profiles than the default ones, via the Preflight Profile panel (Window > Preflight).
3. Place PDF documents in the input folder (defined in your Hot Folder setup) for automated checking and correction.
4. Enfocus PitStop Server checks the PDF documents and depending on the Preflight Profile fixes problems, if any. It generates a Preflight.
5. Report and saves the Report in a log folder.
6. If necessary, review the PDF document until it is output-ready and can be taken to the final output stage, e.g., for print, press or online viewing.

PDF transparency flattening

PitStop Server introduces transparency flattening to improve output consistency. While newer print engines can handle transparency, older RIPs often struggle. This feature ensures predictable results by flattening transparencies within PDFs, resolving issues like blending modes and overprints for seamless printing.

Advanced PDF Color Management

With Enfocus PitStop Server, you have the flexibility to manage color profiles in two ways: apply a single ICC profile for all objects, or assign separate profiles for images and other elements. When using one unified profile, you'll see a single tab to control color settings. If specific profiles are selected for images, two tabs will be available—one for image color settings and another for other objects.

Enfocus PitStop Server supports defining source and destination ICC profiles for the following color spaces:

• Gray
• RGB
• CMYK
• Lab

These profiles are essential for accurate color conversion between different color models—such as converting RGB to CMYK—helping maintain color consistency throughout your print or digital production process.

When configuring a hot folder in Enfocus PitStop Server, you have complete flexibility to define how your folders are structured to suit your production environment. You can choose to organize processed files into separate folders based on the outcome of the preflight process—such as OK, Warning, or Error—or consolidate all processed files into a single folder. The same level of customization applies to storing original files, non-PDF formats, and generated process reports, helping maintain an efficient and organized workflow.
