Dual HDMI Connectors and 1920 x 1080 Full HD
Two HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connectors are provided for connecting to the latest HD entertainment equipment which means the usual tangle of AV wires can be switched for a single slim cable accepting audio and video signals up to 1920 x 1080. The HD2442W also minimizes artifacts that normally occur during interlace/progressive (I/P) conversion by detecting the amount of change between frames and applying the optimal degree of I/P conversion. And not only does the HD2442W handle standard 480i to 480p conversion, but more demanding 1080i to 1080p conversion as well maintaining image quality while performing high speed processing.
Sharper Images with OutlineEnhancer
The OutlineEnhancer is a filter to sharpen any blurred areas of an image. Filtering is done inside the monitor rather than by software on the PC so OutlineEnhancer sharpens moving as well as still images in real time. Seven degrees of adjustment are provided in the OSD menu.
6 ms Midtone Response Time
Helps prevent ghosting during moving picture playback. This circuit has minimal effect on input lag or the difference between the time a signal is inputted into the monitor and then shown on screen. Gamers can rest assured that their movements and those of their opponent are virtually synchronous with what they see on the screen.
Dual PC Inputs
A digital DVI-D and an analog D-sub connector are both included, so two computers can be connected at the same time. The DVI-D input also features high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) for the viewing of content from HDCP devices.
High Definition Digital Signal Support
Supports 1080p high definition digital signal for a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 (16:9 aspect ratio) without stretching the pixels horizontally. (Black borders are displayed on the top and bottom of the screen.)
PC and Video Viewing Modes
Several viewing modes are available for both computer and AV sources, allowing you to select the best settings for each. For PCs, there a choice of Text, Movie, Picture,sRGB and Custom (user-defined), as well as WindowMovie that displays media player software brighter than the rest of the screen. For audio visual devices, there a choice of Standard and Custom modes, as well as Soft mode for movies and Dynamic mode for fast-action games.
Picture-in-Picture
Displaying content from a PC on the main screen while showing video input on a sub screen, Picture-in-Picture lets you do two things at once such as checking email while catching a sports game. The transparency and location of the sub screen can be adjusted through the onscreen display menu.
Optimized Brightness
The BrightRegulator function detects changes in the ambient brightness and signals the backlight to adjust the screen brightness accordingly. This ensures the screen is never too bright or too dark, thereby preventing eye fatigue when playing games or watching videos.
Remote Control, Direct Command
Available with a FlexScan monitor for the first time, this new remote offers full control of the OSD menu plus one-touch access to picture-in-picture, screen size, and PC/HDMI input selection. A Thru mode reduces this input lag to approximately one frame or 1/60th of a second with both interlace and progressive scanning. This allows gamers to see the action as it is happening and react immediately rather than responding after a delay of several frames.

The HD2442W comes with 1080/24p display capability so it can play Blu-ray disks and other video formats smoothly without the unwanted motion artifacts or judder. This is because motion pictures are usually shot at 24 fps which means that any monitor or TV which cannot support playback at this rate will have to convert frames in a process called pulldown. The resulting judder is especially noticeable during slow, steady pans across a scene with transitions between frames appearing jerky or staggered.

When you watch a TV broadcast or view video, game or other content, youre usually missing part of the image. Thats because a process called overscanning crops the picture on all four sides to provide stable, undistorted viewing. This can take away as much as 10% of the image even when viewed at full HD resolution. The HD2441W, on the other hand, features an industry-first 16:9 Full mode that eliminates cropping, allowing the image to be seen in its entirety.
