FAQ
Thus when measured with an i1 device, this additional blue color will offset the device slightly, causing it to add more yellow to balance the color. A UV cut will remove this additional blue before it reaches the device for profiling, creating a more accurate profile.
However, when using paper that has no brighteners the UV cut becomes unnecessary. Therefore the decision of necessity for the UV cut comes entirely down to the kind of paper being used with the i1 device.
This makes the UV cut ideal for photographic signage and grand format industries, while a standard version (non-UV) is for proofing applications and standards such as SWOP and GRACOL.
