EIZO ColorEdge CG248-4K 23.8in IPS LED Monitor
4K Image Display
The highest pixel density yet for the smoothest image display
With the highest pixel density yet in our ColorEdge lineup at an astonishing185 ppi, 4K image display has never been so smooth. Now you can enjoy the exceptional detail in high-resolution photographs that cannot be reproduced with a standard monitor. Alphanumeric characters and contours are also distinguished with excellent sharpness for the printing workflow. The 4K ultra-high-definition (UHD) screen (3840 × 2160) is four times the size of full HD (1920 × 1080), making it ideal for high-resolution photography or as a reference monitor for 4K video creation.
Built-In SelfCalibration Sensor
Built-In Calibration Sensor
The EIZO CG248-4K features a built-in sensor that is housed within the monitor’s top bezel and swings down onto the screen when calibration begins. This sensor eliminates the need for a third-party calibration device and even operates in portrait mode.
Using either the OSD menu or the bundled ColorNavigator software, you can schedule the ColorEdge CG248-4K to self-calibrate at specific times. Reassuringly, even if the monitor is switched off or not even connected to a computer, it will stick to its preset schedule and self-calibrate.
Since the PC itself is not necessary for self-calibration, the ability to calibrate the monitor is not dependent on using an operating system supported by the ColorNavigator software. Therefore, a calibrated ColorEdge CG248-4K can be used with Linux even though ColorNavigator currently does not support this OS.
Correlation with Other Sensors
The ColorEdge CG248-4K can be correlated to the measurement results of an external calibration sensor. This is convenient if the ColorEdge CG248-4K is used in a work environment with other ColorEdge monitors and one measurement device must be used as a standard for all calibration. Correlation is done with a new “Correlation Utility” included with the bundled ColorNavigator software.
What’s New with the ColorEdge CG248-4K
Simple and Precise Calibration with ColorNavigator
The bundled ColorNavigator software makes calibration both simple and quick. Just input target values for brightness, white point, and gamma.. The built-in sensor directly utilizes the monitor's look-up table and creates an ICC profile within minutes. What's more, you can always download the latest version of ColorNavigator for free here on eizo.com.
Wide Color Gamut
The CG248-4K LED reproduces 99% of the Adobe RGB color space so it can display almost all the colors of a photo in Adobe RGB mode. Images shot in RAW can be converted to Adobe RGB or images shot in Adobe RGB will be displayed correctly. The wide color gamut also ensures that the monitor covers 100% of the Rec. 709, EBU, and SMPTE-C standards as well as 93% of the DCI used in post production. Whether you are working with photo, video, or print, this monitor ensures faithful color reproduction for a multitude of creative industries. You'll be able to proof GRACoL and SWOP files confidently with 100% color space inclusion.
True Blacks with 1000:1 Contrast Ratio
When viewing the screen from an angle in a dimly lit room, dark tones typically appear washed out due to the display characteristics of LCD backlights. The monitor maintains a high contrast ratio even from an angle which allows the dark tones to retain their depth.
Non-Glare IPS Panel
The CG248-4K IPS (in-plane switching) panel exhibits virtually no glare so several people can view the monitor with minimal color shift.
Stable Color in Just Three Minutes
A typical monitor takes 30 minutes or more for its brightness, chromaticity, and tone characteristics to stabilize. EIZO has shortened the warm-up time to a mere three minutes. Whether you are working in a studio or taking the monitor with you on location, you get reliable color display soon after turning the monitor on.
Features for Creative Work
Brightness and Color Uniformity with DUE
Standard monitors constantly fall victim to fluctuations in brightness and chromaticity across the screen area. EIZO has incorporated their patented digital uniformity equalizer (DUE) technology to ensure a Delta-E difference of 3 or less across the screen when the monitor leaves the factory. DUE also counterbalances the influences that fluctuating ambient temperature has on color temperature and brightness, which allows you to rest assured you'll see the same color no matter what climate you're in.
Stop Waiting For Warm Up
With most standard monitors, there is upwards of a 30 minute wait time before the brightness, chromaticity, and tone characteristics stabilize. EIZO has taken this into account on their new model by shortening this wait time to a mere 7 minutes (more than a 75% reduction). If you're worried about productivity and uptime, and every second counts, then the CG248-4K is a right fit for you.
10-Bit Simultaneous Display
The monitor can display 10-bit color from a 16-bit look-up table via its DisplayPort input*. This is more than 1 billion colors shown simultaneously which is 64 times greater than the 16.7 million colors of 8-bit display. The result is even smoother color gradations and reduced Delta-E between two adjacent colors.
*A graphics board and software which support 10-bit output are also necessary for 10-bit display.
3D LUT for Better Additive Color Mixture
The monitor utilizes a new EIZO-developed 3D LUT. Whereas a typical 1D LUT adjusts color on separate tables for each red, green, and blue, a 3D LUT accomplishes this on a single, mixed-color cubic table. A 3D LUT improves the monitor's additive color mixture (combination of RGB), a key factor in its ability to display neutral gray tones.
Factory Adjustment of Gamma
To ensure that each ColorEdge monitor produces the most accurate and consistent color gradations possible, EIZO carefully measures and sets every shade of R, G, and B from 0 – 255 on the production line with the monitor's 16-bit Look-Up Table, to produce a monitor gamma value of 2.2. Should the user prefer a different value, ColorNavigator software can be used to set the gamma value from a range of 1.0 up to 2.6 in increments of 0.1.
The bundled ColorNavigator software makes calibration both simple and quick. Just input target values for brightness, white point, and gamma. The built-in sensor directly utilizes the monitor's look-up table and creates an ICC profile within minutes. You can always download the latest version of ColorNavigator for free on eizo.com.
Color Matching with Other Monitors
ColorNavigator 6 factors for the different characteristics between ColorEdge monitors and calibration devices to provide accurate results.
Import / Export Adjustment Targets

Calibrate Your Monitor to Another Profile
If you want to conduct color management between monitors in a workflow ColorNavigator 6 lets you load the profile of another ColorEdge monitor and use it to calibrate your own.
To verify calibration results or check to see how much the monitor's colors have varied since it was last calibrated, ColorNavigator 6 measures the monitor's color patches to determine the difference between the Delta-E value of the monitor's profile and the actual displayed values of the monitor
Unify Color, Centralize QC Management
With ColorNavigator NX installed on workstations, an administrator can use ColorNavigator Network software to automate quality control (QC) tasks of ColorEdge monitors across an entire studio or between multiple locations.
Worry-Free Web Hosting
ColorNavigator Network is hosted on a secure cloud server to free you from the initial investment and running costs of providing your own server.
Comfort and Convenience
Verification Documents Included
EIZO stands behind the quality of the ColorEdge series by including two verification documents with each monitor. One document verifies the uniformity on 25 points across the screen while the other certifies that all 256 color tones on the gamma curve were individually adjusted at the factory.
With a single cable, the DCI 4K resolution at 60 Hz is supported by both DisplayPort 1.2 inputs and at 30 Hz by both HDMI inputs.
Adjust the screen to the most comfortable angle for you and reposition it to show your work to a colleague or client. The monitor comes with a versatile stand that offers height, tilt, and swivel adjustments as well as portrait mode display.

LED Buttons and On-Screen Button Guide
For dimly lit work environments, the LED front buttons can be backlit to seven different brightness settings. An on-screen button guide appears above the buttons to indicate what each one is for.
Preset Color Modes
A button on the front of the monitor provides quick access to several broadcast-standard color modes reset color modes: Rec. 709, EBU, SMPTE-C, and DCI. In addition, sRGB and Adobe RGB modes are also available.
Safe Area Marker
A safe area marker designates the area of the screen that will be displayed on any display device. This allows you to confirm that subtitles and other text will be visible. Available with HDMI inputs only.
All ColorEdge models give studio professionals the advantage of using the monitor's entire 10-bit grayscale range to see more detail when doing fine editing work in very dark and very light tones. Setting the screen to show the entire 10-bit grayscale range reveals either 6% or 14% more gray tones from 0 (true black) to 1023 (true white) compared to common broadcast signal display range capabilities.
Rec. 709 Out of Gamut Warning
ColorEdge 4K monitors include a Gamut Warning Preset. When selected, the areas of a Rec. 2020 image that cannot be reproduced using Rec. 709 are clearly indicated by converting them to shades of gray. An additional mode called Rec. 709 Clipping allows the editor to view Rec. 2020 images with the Rec. 709 color space, simulating how it would look to their audience in an HDTV environment.
4K Zoom Function
Enlarge areas of the screen to confirm small details and check focus accuracy in photos using the 4K zoom function. It is quickly and easily accessible using the monitor’s front buttons.
Commitment to Quality
FograCert Softproof Monitor
